Health and Performance Benefits Of
Advanced Buteyko Breathing

Advanced Buteyko unlike any another breathing technique; it is in a category of its own. While some techniques result in over-breathing (hyperventilation) – taking long deep breaths or rapid alternate nostril breathing, such as pranayama (an ancient Ayurvedic practise used today to enhance meditation) Buteyko is the only one that specifically prevents hyperventilation. With daily practice Buteyko OXYGENATES the whole body and positively affects 200 biochemical pathways in our body. It also has a cumulative effect when practised daily.

There is a lot of emphasis on Heart- Brain entrainment and research has been done by the Heart Math Institute on how Heart Maths changes the stress response by changing the BREATHING pattern. Buteyko achieves this stress-lowering response as it normalizes breathing and, with an increase in CO2 in our blood, has a positive effect on the whole central nervous system (CNS).

Every time we complete a breathing set we are not only entraining our brain and heart; with daily practise, we are also stabilising our energy, moods and improving overall well being along the way. Many asthmatics dissolve asthma within 2 – 4 weeks of commencing daily practise and stop using inhalers when they continue Advanced Buteyko as a daily breathing practise. Regular classical Buteyko as taught by many practitioners around the world is more conservative and takes longer to achieve the same results as Advanced Buteyko. Hence you must learn with an Advanced Buteyko instructor. It is not recommend that you undertake this on your own if you have asthma or are using a CPAP machine and are taking medications..

9 Benefits of Advanced Buteyko

01. Oxygen Distribution: Promotes oxygen release via haemoglobin, improving oxygen supply to all cells in the body.

02. Balance Blood pH: Balances the pH of the blood, improving the activities of 1000+ enzymes and vitamins.

03. Vasodilation: Improves breathing and lowers blood-pressure by dilating the airways and all blood vessels.

04. Immune System: Raises the antibody-antigen affinity so your antibodies can attack viruses more effectively.

05. Brain cell Synapses: Facilitates higher IQ and emotional balance because brain cells can synapse more effectively.

06. Glucose Uptake: Helps glucose pass through cell membranes more easily so cells can burn more sugar.

07. Nervous System: Lowers the excitability of the nervous system and makes you feel calmer and be more in control.

08. Metabolic Pathways: Improves the functioning of very important metabolic pathways, called gluconeogenesis and lipogenesis.

09. Respiratory System: Lowers the excitability of the respiratory centre: you can do more exercise without feeling out of breath.
